ASEDAS 2022

VIRTUAL DIGITAL ART EXHIBTION

The COVID-19 has greatly affected all of us around the globe. With the attempt to ease these prolong tension, ASEDAS and its partners came up with the idea of using the art to foster the sensation. Hence, ASEDAS2020 was organized. The great success of the ASEDAS 2020 and its succession, ASEDAS 2021, ASEDAS once again announced the organizing of the 3rd International Virtual Digital Art Exhibition (ASEDAS 2022). This year’s theme is "Reliance".

With this, we aim:
  1. To create a platform to exhibit the contemporary art online
  2. To promote cooperation and collaboration with both domestic and international parties
  3. To disseminate the contemporary art and culture

We are, therefore, inviting all artists, photographers, videographers, academics, students, and people around the world to submit their digital artworks via our platform.

Reliance is evolved around the idea of having faith and trust. It is perhaps a time for us to rely on ourselves, rely on the evolution of medication, rely on the advancement of technology, rely on one another and have faith that the world will be better and brighter as days go by. We will stay strong and connected. We will be "reliance"

ASEDAS Thailand

The ASEAN Digital Art Society or ASEDAS is an organization that brings together artists from ASEAN countries and the world.

History

The coalition was formed in April 2020 through an online discussion between its founder, Assoc. Prof. Ahamad Tarmizi Azizan (Atan Af) from Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK), Malaysia, who is an academic and digital artist with Dr. Ariesa Pandanwangi from Universitas Kristen Maranatha, Indonesia, who is an academic and chairwoman of the 22nd Indonesian Community in the arts. Several artists from Thailand started to participate in ASEDAS initiatives from the first Virtual Digital Art exhibition. Definition of Digital Art
According to the definition of the ASIAN Southeast Digital Art Association (ASEDAS), Digital Artwork is included in 3 types of digital formats, namely:
  1. artwork produced entirely using a digital format medium such as a work produced using computer technology, a smartphone or tablet such as an iPad, etc. and displayed or sold digitally as in NFT;
  2. Mixed media works, that is, works produced using digital technology in part, then printed on canvas and completed using traditional techniques such as drawings, etc. and physically exhibited in a physical exhibition or physically sold;
  3. Artwork produced using traditional techniques entirely, then scanned using a scanner or digital camera or another device to be converted to digital format for display or sale in the digital world

But ultimately, whatever technique is used between the 3 methods as above, in the context of the digital world we need a digital platform to submit this artwork as an entry in a competition, the digital exhibition included in NFT either via email, FB messenger, WhatsApp, telegram, and others. So, with this indirectly the work is already in a digital format even though your original work is still in the traditional format.

This definition also includes every time we upload and share an image of our work on social media such as on Facebook, telegrams, WhatsApp, etc. when this work has been automatically converted to digital format.

In sum, it is anything that can be produced and re-produced digitally
